If you thought summer was all about Star Trek and Harry Potter, think again. While everyone is busy geeking out over the blockbuster onslaught that’s breathing down our necks (myself included), Anvil: The Story of Anvil will quietly sneak its way into theaters this April and then abruptly rock everyone’s fucking face off.
Anvil (the band, not the documentary they star in) began their rock career in the early 80s, and relentlessly toured the world with some of the biggest names in metal, yet stardom was never quite within their sweaty reach. Almost three decades, and thirteen(!) albums later, the band still hasn’t called it quits, and most of us still have no clue who the hell they are. This documentary of that colorful, yet unfortunate story is meant to be equal parts heartfelt and humorous, and none of that will surprise you a bit once you’ve witnessed the trailer for yourself. I know now where my ass will be on April 10, and it’s not hanging out with my parents like it usually is on Friday nights!
