By the way, Alan, the Prisoner album is terribly difficult to get on vinyl in the states. I’m having to pay 50 bones to special order it from Germany. :( I figured I’d go ahead and get all the EPs in one shipment as well. Thanks for having expensive taste! :)

well season 1 comes out tomorrow so it’s not that bad. I’m certain a lot of it has to do with all the extras that i almost never ever watch. You know my initial feelings on the show, yet I’ve ordered the Blu-Ray just the same hoping it enamors me far more then my first viewing. Here’s hoping it does so i too can be excited for season 2.

It warms my hard, black heart to see you dabble in the realm of swords and sorcery! Pretty soon you’ll be searching out Atlanta’s LARPing community and wearing homemade chainmail to bed.

I really don’t get why so many TV shows see such delayed release on DVD/BD. Why it’s not done in plenty of time for people to catch up before the new season airs is beyond me, because it seems like that would be the number one priority. There must be some twisted logic operating here that we are just oblivious to.

Haven’t had a chance to watch this show yet, but I’m halfway thru Kings, so this is whetting my appetite for more medieval awesomeness. It’s criminal that the first season isn’t out on DVD yet and they’re already teasing season 2.

The Jezabels Prisoner album IS quite impressive. I just sat down with the whole album today. From start to finish it feels like a really long ballad, in a great way. While the sound is huge and full of tension, there’s plenty of space to exhale in most songs. There are definitely parts of this album beautiful enough to bring tiny tears to my eye ducts. :) Brilliant album. Great find Alan; love this band.

While I share your suspicion that the Mary Onettes will probably sound, well, a bit more like the Mary Onettes on the full-length, I hope there are at least a handful of tracks that are as adventurous creatively and sonically as “Love’s Taking Strange Ways.”

Just for you, I’ll revisit “Islands.” I’ve gotten it quite wrong a number of times in the past, worth seeing how it strikes me now.

I feel rather ignorant not to have known about Chabon’s work on “John Carter.” Honestly, I saw the preview, wasn’t sure what to make of it, and left it at that. Now I’ll do a little digging (or at least a touch of Googling).

What’s your feeling about the “Total Recall” remake?

I didn’t know Shane Carruth was involved with “Looper”. “Primer” isn’t a movie exactly known for visual design, but I agree that tapping the creative force behind that movie in any respect is a good idea.

And I am with you about 2012′s sci-fi prospects. “Prometheus” alone would be enough to get me majorly excited, and the rest of the contenders will probably have their work cut out for them keeping up with it. The dark horse for me is actually “John Carter”, which looks like it could easily be terrible, but I think may surprise everyone. The fact that Michael Chabon was involved with the script should have all but the illiterate at least a little curious.

We’ll forever agree to disagree about “Islands” (easily one of my favorite albums ever penned), but I am glad we’re on the same page with this new one. If I had to guess, my money would be on the full-length actually venturing back into more familiar sonic territory, but we’ll know soon enough. Either way, this was definitely a bold move on their part, and reaction seems to be pretty positive from what I can tell. The rest of the EP should be very interesting…
