The Tripper Poster Is Not Too Shabby

March 2nd, 2007 by alan s.

David Arquette is making his directorial debut with The Tripper, a blood-soaked slasher about a bunch of modern day hippies who are terrorized by a maniac in the woods. While initially I found this news eyebrow arching to be sure, there’s something about this movie that has me intrigued. Maybe it’s the fact Arquette lined up Lukas Haas, Thomas Jane, and Jason Mewes for the cast. Or maybe it’s because even though it’s an hommage to 70’s slashers gone by, he’s taking a somewhat comical bent with it.

Of course, it could always just be this poster, which is admittedly a pretty great idea. The sheet of Ronald Reagan emblazoned LSD is an inspired look, even if the type feels a bit lazy. Still, it’s attention grabbing to say the least.

We’ll find out if the movie lives up to the art when it’s released on 4.20 (Yeah, that made me groan as well, but I guess they sort of had to do it).
